Now I’m 21 years old and graduated from high school in 2006 which
was the proudest moment of my life when I walked down the aisle to
receive my diploma! Unfortunately, I did not get into the university
I applied to, so I participated in CONAFE, a government program that
gives a college scholarship in exchange for my service teaching
elementary school in a poor, remote village. At first I was
disappointed that I would not be going to college right out of high
school, but I think God had a plan for me, and I had some important
things to learn from that experience.
In December 2008, I applied again for a position in the competitive
public university and was accepted to the Spanish Literature Major.
I am enjoying my studies and working hard to achieve my dream of
becoming an elementary school teacher. I know that with Hogar
Infantil’s support, I can make this dream a reality.
All the things that I’ve learned at Hogar in the past 10 years have
prepared me well for this new journey in my life. I have learned to
appreciate what I have and to always try to be a better person by
being patient with others and taking responsibility for my actions.
I thank you for all of your love and support.”
